1) Citizens of Athens and the surrounding dimoi (regions) would directly vote in the assembly on issues. So, for example, if Athenians wanted to pass a measure on increasing taxes, the citizens were obliged to go to the assembly and each person cast his own vote on the measure. 2) In the U.S., rather than each individual casting his own vote, a representative is selected to cast the vote on behalf of others. For example, rather than 30 million Californians going to the U.S. Senate and each person voting, the Californians elect two representatives (i.e. Senators, in this case) to vote on the behalf of all Californians. 3) The main advantage of a direct democracy is that each individual is given his own voice and allowed to give his input in the affairs of the entire political state. 4) The main advantage of a representative democracy is that political matters can more easily be handled, with less logistical problems and with less time being consumed, when the political state has a large population. In other words, it's easier when you only have 100 people voting rather than 300 million (in the case of the U.S. Senate). 5) The main disadvantage of direct democracy is that it becomes extremely difficult to implement direct democracy once populations start to become large (see #4 above). 6) The main disadvantage of representative democracy is that individuals lose their own voice in the running of the political machine. Using the U.S. Senate example again, if the two Californian Senators vote in favor of a measure, but let's say that of the 30 million Californians only 20 million actually support the measure, then obviously that's 10 million people who have had not truly been represented by their representatives. I hope that was clear enough for you. Next time, however, do your own homework, rather than cheating by getting answers here.

Citizens of Athens, the city and state, used to have the direct democracy. That means, that in the mornings men went to a public building and everyone could talk about their problems and what they think about the future of Athens and its condition. Also, the citizens of Athens, elected their leaders and their head of their coat of arms...

very expensive in denmark and they have the point system...i think 3 strikes on your speeding and you lose your license...they also have lots of cameras at lights and on cars on the side of the road to take pics when u speed and you get the ticket in the mail.

in Denmark the limit is typically between 50 km/h to 110 km/h or 130 km/h 3 strikes and youre out the newer you are the harder the punishment

u mean u want to have ur cordless phone work in greece, and using ur homeline in USA, looooooool go buy a cellphone
4 :
Greece may just use 220, if they do and you plug in your 110 phone, it'll fry.
5 :
Since this is land lines and you are saying cordless, we are talking an extension phone. You don't say where you use the phone, so I will guess USA. So the answer is: almost certainly not. Cordless phones require power from the wall to the base station and in USA this is 110 and Greece is probably 220 with different plugs. Cordless phones are radios transmitters and receivers and the frequencies assigned to phone use differ around the world. Some countries strongly license radios of any kind. As you say, the base has to plug into a phone socket to work (connect to the land lines) and the plug structure may be different, the wiring may be different and the government phone company may object strongly to using improper equipment and failure to pay a fee. With additional data, you may get an answer here, but someone is going to have to prove their authority to answer because they did that.

Work permits are often just for a specific job or time period, you will have to check with the issuer of the permit and the reasons that you gave for applying. You can apply for modifications or extensions to work permits but again, you will need to clarify this with any potential employer (they will be named on the work permit as your sponsor).

ok,as far as I know you can study either here or abroad...if you speak the language fluently then you can study here but it would be a bit hard...i suggest you study abroad and if you want to work in Greece then you have to give Dikatsa...i don't know very well though the educational system but I'm inclined to believe that when you finish ur studies then go and work out of Athens...go to an island...you gonna earn more money... filakia=kisses
2 :
He has to pass some examinations in certain medical subjects, in order to get a license to work here through Dikatsa,(unless if he has studied in EU, i think in such a case he does not?). But no offense meant, Greece is literary filled with dentists right now, so be prepared to deal with a lot of "competition" in a sense.

What type of work permit in Greece

is there any open work permit in greece ? if yes, then i have freedom to work in any field ? Please, send me answer as soon as possible. Please give me detail about all type of Work Permit.

1 :
No there are not open work permit in Greece. EU nationals don’t need a work permit to work in Greece. But non EU do need a visa to work in Greece. The only way for a non EU to get work in Greece if an employer offers you a job. Greece updated its residency laws at the beginning of 2006 and has continued to do so since then. Any non-European national wanting to work in Greece needs to have their employer file a request for an opinion on the use of foreign labor prior to his/her arrival in Greece. Following filing of the request, the Ministry of Labor determines whether they want to have a non-EU person to do a job. The file is then forwarded to the local police for their OK. Following approval, the file is forwarded to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which grants a favorable opinion and authorizes the Greek Consulate with jurisdiction over the applicant’s usual place of residence to issue the right visa. After arrival in the country, a residency permit is issued. These are issued for one year, and this is renewable up to five times. Some information suggests that nationals who do not require an entry visa may be issued a work permit within two to three months. Nonetheless, you'll all but have to get the right entry visa since local officials don't seem to allow conversions of status

I am an American citiven and want to work in Greece for 9 months.... do I need a visa/what type of visa?

Greece - 2 Answers

1 :
Yes you need a work visa. With the collapse of the Greek economy this may be next to impossible.
2 :
If you've only got an American passport, not one from an EU country, you need to have a job offer before leaving the States. But to get a job the employer will need to prove that there is no Greek or other EU citizen available to do the job. So, unless you have some job skills that are not available in Greece or Europe, that's next to impossible. US citizens are allowed to visit Greece for up to 90 days without a visa but can't work during that time. And, while long-stay visas are available, you will need to show that you can support yourself financially during your stay in Greece as you will not be allowed to work on this visa either.

First , see if your school can help. You can also see if your parents or other people that you know can help. That is called networking. Look at local newspapers under help wanted and see if they have some internships. Finally, you can write to some companies and express your interests in an internship./

I'm going to assume you're American. I'm not going to write it for you, but I'm going to give you bullet points. -Olympics: wrestling, racing, boxing, etc. -Education: Socratic method, philosophy (Socrates, Plato, Aristotle), biology (Aristotle), literature (Sophocles, Euripedes, etc.), tutors -Democracy: USA and many modern "western" countries use variations on the democratic system, but just as the Greek democracy was not a "perfect" democracy, neither is ours.
2 :
Look twards the greek coliseums, they invented the arena, look up, greecian Arena's, to find your answer, The Olympic Games, a great athletic contest, began in 776 BC. The Olympics marked a rise of the Greek culture, and the beginning of the Archaic Period of Greece. During this time period, foreign culture held a great influence over Greek ideas. Artwork began to focus on human figures and of mythology. The culture soared even higher into the Classical Period, approximately 500 BC. This was the highest point of Greek creativity especially in the areas of philosophy, art, and literature.
3 :
The Greeks influenced sports by creating the first Olympics. In ancient Greece, only men could attend the Olympics, and the winners get a Laural wreath and bring glory for his city. In modern times, anyone can watch, and the winners get rewarded with medals that are either gold, silver, or bronze. The Greeks influenced our education by creating systems of learning we still use today like the Pythagorean Theorem. The words: Mathematics and scientific are just some words that come from greece. The ancient Greeks influenced democracy in many ways. They were the first to have a democracy and allow the people rule, and in America, the country is ruled by people. The greeks used a black stone, and a white stone, and America uses ballots. In Ancient Greece, they had a direct democracy while we have a representative democracy. These are ways the Greek influences in sports, education, and democracy affect our life.

I don't think Verizon is a GSM network meaning you put in a sim card. If I am wrong and it is call verizon to get your sim unlocked (meaning you will be able to use any network around the world). Upon arriving in Greece buy a sim card and minutes. If I am right about what kind of network your on then call Verizon and get an international plan so you will able to use your phone in Greece.

It works in every other civilized nation that has it. WHy are you pointing out the 1 that failed, instead of the dozens that haven't?
2 :
first off, obama's corporatist giveaway and greece's healthcare plan are totally different we already know that government healthcare works in many nations: japan, UK, canada, ect obviously when an economy completely tanks, like greece did, then many programs struggle. judging by your question, it appears that you are exceedingly ignorant regarding this topic, you can get up to speed starting here: http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/sickaroundtheworld/view/?utm_campaign=viewpage&utm_medium=grid&utm_source=grid
3 :
Because the hospitals and doctors were owned by the govt. Glad we don't have that here.
4 :
Because Greece is a country of widespread corruption. If my wife gave birth at 26 weeks today, then i could call my doctor around my house, he could call an ambulance for her and admit her and the baby into hospital, They could stay there for as long as it takes to get them better and it could coost tens of millions of pounds and we would pay nothing. We already paid out of our taxes. It all boils down to whether or not you are so greedy you don't wish to help your fellow man. I am glad to see see the American right, point to a country such as Greece as an example of a failed left wing policies, it is apt that you compare yourselves to a shonky tinpot country.
5 :
Nationalized Health Care can only work if everyone pays into it and the "give me, you owe me" welfare attitude is eliminated. So in America we created an entire class of people that will make it impossible to succeed. JD
6 :
I believe that he us doing everything he can to get votes so he can get reelected. I don't think he even knows about Greece much less how bad sociallized medicine has failed in every country that has tried it or who are trying it now. Canada has it and their citizens are coming here for treatment. Taking away our rights to practice and develop new cures will be lost and the old will die because their choices will be in the hands of burecrats as to what procedures they will approve. Drew
7 :
Greece has problems but public spending is not their only problem. Tax evasion is also a huge problem, and recently the government named and shamed some high earners, including doctors, who had dodged paying income tax.
8 :
Now, now, didn't you hear your president say last week not to be distracted by all the factual chatter out there? We all know it is unsustainable but it will permanently create a dependent electorate which will lead to more power for the govt.
9 :
It wasn't just healthcare itw as all teh government worker's benefits, pensions, etc. just like California and other states, it's the government labor unions who have broken the back of their economy, because government workers provide services, they do not CREATE wealth, they are parasites leaching off from those who do. All states/nations who let the uniuons takeover will end up bankrupt, the only thing that will save the USA (because we will bail out states like CA and countries like Greece, even though we have to borrow that money from China) is if all the other countries have worse economies/debt/weaker currecny/higher inflation than ours. If all else fails go to war, which is historically what happens when the world goes into a economic train wreck, blame somebody else, loot wealth of other nations, put the unemployed in uniforms, reduce the population and profiteer from weapons and munitions production, and the black market.
10 :
Socialized medicine only works if you are young and healthy. Otherwise, you are only one illness or sickness away from your casket. Most people don't realize that healthcare is denied to people with serious diseases because it is too expensive to treat. We aren't just talking about elderly here, kids, teens, and young adults die too. It takes generations to understand how it works and what happens when you do get sick. You will also find it is difficult to impossible to ever get a doctor's appointment. People that have lived in socialized medicine for years understand this. Americans won't.

That we don't work in Greece is a big lie. In recent surveys it was proved that Greek workers work many more hours than workers in other countries. It is true though that we don't live for work. After returning home, everyone has many different things to do and this is normal. We have many hobbies and we like to do many things. Work for us is a way to earn money and live decently. Here the workaholics is a specie to expire! I have to add that I work in Athens, but I don't really like working in Greece, because many employers like to take advantage of the employees. They don't pay the contributes and they usually give low salaries that don't allow you rent a house of your own.

Can I?

You need to find someone from greece and fall in love or what ever. Then get married and then bring then to were you are from and marry them there to. now you will be able to get dual citizenship, that will allow you to come and go to both countries as you please. That is the best thing to do, of course you will need the visa's and others to get to greece, but you can do it if you want.
2 :
A non-Greek who is married to a Greek citizen may apply for a 5-year residence permit authorizing the applicant to work. If approved, the applicant may apply to have the permit renewed for an additional 5 years. An application for extension must be made two months prior to the expiration of the initial permit. Applications are submitted to the Municipality or City Hall of the area of residence of the individual concerned. Spouses of Greek citizens must secure a visa from the Greek consulate prior to coming to establish residence in Greece.

Do i need greek hairdressing qualifications, will i need to re-do study or get proof etc? Or do my Nationally acredited Australian qualifications transfer etc? I am looking to move to Greece Edit: My partner is Greek. So i think i will be contacting the embassy then :) ty for your help

As an Australian you can only work in Greece if you have a Greek passport or passport from another EU country. Doesn't matter whether your qualifications are recognised or not, because you just can't work. If however, you're moving to Greece because your partner is Greek and living there, or moving back there, then you should contact the Greek Embassy to see what your options are.
2 :
You should take into consideration this: Official US Embassy report : The U.S. Government remains deeply concerned about the heightened threat of terrorist attacks against U.S. citizens and interests abroad. Like other countries that are members of the Schengen Agreement for free cross-border movement, Greece’s open borders with its European neighbors allow the possibility of terrorist groups entering/exiting the country with anonymity. As the first entry point into Schengen from points south and east, Greece’s long coastline and many islands also heighten the possibility that foreign-based terrorists might try to exploit Greece’s borders. Domestic terrorist organizations such as Revolutionary Struggle and “Sect of Revolutionaries” have become increasingly active against both domestic and foreign targets in Greece. Recent attacks and attempted attacks have included the use of Molotov cocktails (gasoline bombs), small arms and rifle fire, and improvised explosive devices, the largest being a 50-kilo car bomb which failed to detonate before the police arrived. The Greek police forces, other Greek governmental agencies, private American and Greek businesses, and the United States Embassy have been attacked in the last three years. Recent actions indicate that the perpetrators are indiscriminate. The risk of “being in the wrong place at the wrong time” in the event of a terrorist action is a concern for residents and visitors. U.S. tourists or residents in Greece should remain vigilant, exercise caution, and monitor local developments. Some current terrorist organizations are aligned with the ideology of the older Marxist terrorist group November 17 (N17) which targeted Greek businessmen and officials, as well as officials from NATO countries in Greece, from the mid-1970s until the early part of this decade. N17 terrorists murdered 23 people, including five U.S. Government employees. Strikes and demonstrations are a regular occurrence. Greece is a stable democracy and these activities for the most part are orderly and lawful. However, a wave of incidents started when a teenager was shot and killed in an encounter with the police in December 2008. Incidents occurred throughout Greece, but the primary sources of violence were in Athens and Thessaloniki, Protestors there engaged in violent confrontations with the police and carried out destructive vandalism and rioting in localized areas, some of which are areas frequented by tourists, injuring numerous police officers. Riot control procedures often include the use of tear gas. Visitors should keep abreast of news about demonstrations from local news sources and hotel security. When there are demonstrations, visitors should be aware of and avoid places where demonstrators frequently congregate, such as the Polytechnic University area, Exarchia, Omonia, and Syntagma Squares in Athens, and Aristotle Square in Thessaloniki. The Omonia and Exharchia areas of Athens are at particular risk for crime and politically-motivated violence; U.S. Embassy personnel and their families have been urged strongly to avoid these areas between 9 pm and dawn.

Sure you can, if you have a residence and work permit ("green card"). But don't expect to earn much, you will have to find a job in a salon - which is hard in the first place, these days - and then you will earn 700 euros per month if you are lucky. You could try to find clients that you can go to their homes and do hairdressing for them, but you don't know many people so where will you find the clients? Unless you have th emoney to open a salon, in which case you will have to make an investment and hope for clients, however these days with the financial crisis women cut their visits to teh hair salon.

That's no problem. The Greek fonts (alphabet) comes with Windows. Ask in the shop that they show you how to install it.
2 :
The fonts can be changed on the Operating System by choosing another country. I would look for a laptop that enables an external keyboard to be connected. So he may use a greek keyboard at home. Also you will need a plug adapter to fit to the continental two-pole round prong outlets (type C of attached source). Source: http://users.telenet.be/worldstandards/electricity.htm#plugs_c
3 :
You probably have to order the laptop with a Greek language interface on Windows (it costs extra) if thats what you mean. Otherwise he can simply activate another language for typing in Greek in Windows. For Windows XP : Start > Control Panel > Regional and Language Options > Languages > Details > Text services and input Languages > Add > Greek > OK Laptop power supplies are usually capable of operating everywhere but you will need to get an extra adapter to match the plugs used in Greece.

What kind of work you have in mind? Be more specific. If waiting in a bar may be what you look for, then contact gouviatreetops@yahoo.com . They look for people to work for them . Dear squeaky , Greek do not hate foreigners. Especially Greek-Americans. As a matter of fact almost all have someone in America, or elsewhere for that matter. If your attitude was high and mighty then possibly the reception that you got may be explained.
2 :
It's going to be a little difficult. Ask me, I tried to work in Greece and find a job. I filled out an application at a store there, and six months later I had retuned to U.S. and I get a phone call from my grandmother saying they called me in for an interview. I wasn't even there. So I said forget it. Job finding there is really hard, and especially if you are english or american, you need to have someone there you know that is your friend or a buddy to put you in for a job otherwise chances are slim. I did another application at a grocery store too, ...don't even try. Why? Whan I got the interview w/ the manager there, (at the time I was in greece) BELIEVE IT OR NOT, THE GREEK PEOPLE THERE HATE FOREGINERS --- EVEN IF YOU ARE GREEK, GREEK AMERICAN, AMERICAN IN GENERAL OR SOMETHING LIKE THAT, THE MANAGER WAS SUCH A RACIST THAT SHE INSULTED ME SAYING "WHY DID YOU COME TO WORK HERE, GO BACK TO AMERICA!" i TOLD HER NO, B/C I WANTED TO STAY THERE IN GREECE. I FELT LIKE MY OWN COUNTRY IS SAYING--GO! THERE IS NO ROOM FOR YOU HERE. I felt so asshamed that I am greek that day that I left b/c if I had stayed alittle longer w/ her I woulf have punched the lights out of her, but I did not want to create an episode in the store. All I wanted was just to work there and make money. I don't know what her probelm with greek americans was. But anyway, to give you an idea of what it's like having to face this in you own country is disgracful. But for the most part I wish you good luck b/c I did not have much that day. From now on, I just go there for vacation, and work in the U.S., plus you make more money. The Euro is like more than half the amount of the dollar, so you work three times to make the amount you want.

Become a tourist guide for a travel agency that way you get a lot of free stuff and also enjoy the many different places and islands for free. A good way to find such work is to contact travel agencies or companies that put together traveling packages for tourists.

"BELIEVE IT OR NOT, THE GREEK PEOPLE THERE HATE FOREIGNERS --- EVEN IF YOU ARE GREEK, GREEK AMERICAN, AMERICAN IN GENERAL OR SOMETHING LIKE THAT..." This is true, at least from what I experienced. I went to Greece for one month. I don't know why, but they really don't like Americans (people from the United States) even if you're a Greek American.
5 :
Lol, we don't hate foreigners. The case of sqweaky was really extreme. If you are good looking you can find easy a job at a bar. For restaurants and hotels it is harder if you don't know the language.
6 :
BELIEVE IT OR NOT I AM GREEK AND I ADORE THE GREEK AMERICANS OR THE AMERICANS OR EVERY FOREIGNER THAT COMES IN GREECE! i really love them and i like communicating with them!Ok i know that not all Greeks are the same...!The fact is that usually ppl of Greece don't like the american government (Bush,Rice and so on)because they don't back us up in international matters such as the FYROMIAN name and this is true...However the Greek Government this of New Democracy(name of political party) supports the American Government... Anyway...I like all tourists and if i had a tourist shop or sth like that i would absolutely hire foreign staff!!!!!!! Kisses !

If u re into club 18-30 club holiday ...things hehe (u said u re english didn't ya?) then go ask for a job as a PR in Malia Laganas Kavos Faliraki or Kardamena..if u re good lookin u ve got many chances to get a job...If u re not into this stuff then i guess u have to choose a very touristy place that needs foreign-language-speaking personnel... p.s. what this woman below said about greeks that hate foreigners i have to answer her that i m greek and i ONLY LIKE foreigners and i dislike the locals ;-) (many of my friends are like that too) generalising things is fascism.

Thats funny. I'm in the reverse position, an employer looking for workers. But only one I'm afraid. If you go out early to the island of your choice, like May, you can usually just ask around, just canvass the businesses because word spreads fast. Or you can post adds on the newspapers of the islands, which becomes more difficult the bigger the island I guess. I know that I have seen a few employers from Greek islands on www.gumtree.com if you want to post there. But if you are interested in working in Symi, a small island just off Rhodes that has festivals throught the high season, send me a message, but as I said, I only have one position and otherwise you'd have to check out www.symivisitor.com :)

This is an article called Getting a summer job in Greece. Very accurate and true, written by someone who has done it and knows several people who were successful. http://americaninathens.wordpress.com/2007/05/15/getting-a-summer-job-in-greece/ It should be mentioned that if you are a non-EU citizen, it is understood you will be working illegally since securing a work visa is a lengthy and difficult process that employers are not willing to do for casual work. Fines and penalties are in effect, and police are stricter today than 10 years ago. Also, as the first person posted, she has a lot of links to job sites in the third column.

First step would be to get your degree recognised by the Greek authorities. This is done by an agency called DOATAP (www.doatap.gr). They are remarkably inefficient, even by the standards of Greek bureaucracy, so you should expect this process to last as much as a year. The major employer for health-care professionals is the government, as most hospitals are state-run. However, these jobs are reserved for Greek citizens or EU nationals. You might find a job in a private hospital or clinic, but these are few and it might not be easy to find one recruiting. Pay, insurance and job security vary greatly in the private sector, but are rarely great. In terms of pay, I believe that around 15,000 Euros *net* p.a. would be a realistic estimate for an entry-level professional. Between a quarter and a third of this would be deducted for social security and taxes. The remaining sum is adequate if you're in one of the smaller towns, but I'm not sure you'd manage to sustain a good standard of living in Athens.

Looking for work in Greece April 2009. Could anyone suggest a good place to look?
It would have to be just the month of April. I would very much prefer the work was labor intensive, not office work. Also if room/board were included that would be more essential than being paid. I speak enough Greek to get buy, but am fluent only in English. Please take this into consideration. Thank you.

The citizenship by decent only goes to one generation, that means ur father surely can get Greek citizenship, but he cannot pass it to you. However if your father gets the Greek citizenship by decent, you can surely apply for ancestry visa to Greece & live in Greece for 5 years to claim ur citizenship. Keep in mind to claim Greek Citizenship u must be speaking fluent Greek (that shouldn't be a problem for u because grand parents must be speaking Greek with u anyway). Good luck.

if u are ready to deal with whole lot of buraceucy and endless paper work and be patient u will find something, better u find a local to help you,the reality is different that what u hear or see ,its a complicated country with rules not even the locals understand and i dont know how people even local manage ,u can find a job for sure but dont expect a great one ,dont aim too high u got to see for yourself
2 :
No, Greek jobs are there for the Greek people. Unless you can find a job that the Greek government are statisfied that no other Greek citizen can immediately fill, and you can prove it through endless paper work then you might have a chance. Otherwise a simple sales job isn't going to cut it with the Greek government, there's plenty of Greek citizens who'd happily take the job.
3 :
Well, the main criterion for getting a job in Greece is to know the language. Of course that depends....in the islands where most of the customers are foreigners knowing the language is not so critical. I agree that you have to go through some paperwork but it's possible. If you want more info you can ask the Greek Consulates in the U.S.A - check the following link.

I am read to do construction works, or restaurants,or security guard work, or even cleaning the streets, I can do anything, no problem ! Please give me advice , how can I get visa and documents to work in Greece? I know there are not a lot of foreigners in your country, and I think you can host me, and I will be very hard worker! Dear, you are not well informed... Greece has a big problem with immigration, there are so many immigrants nowdays that they are unable to find any kind of work ...
2 :
Actually you are wrong : There are a lot of foreigners in Greece. About 1mill in 10mill local population... that is 10%! To get a green card nowadays is rather hard and takes a lot of time. Especially now that Bulgaria and Romania joined EU, a lot of workers came from there, so most of the work you are willing to do is covered. I would advise you to stay put in France and see what happens... Politicians tend to forget what they have promised very soon ....
3 :
I think that you should ask the Greek embassy. They should know the steps you could take. But unfortunately what I know is that all people who come here have many difficulties in getting a green card. I really hope that everything works out for you the way you want it!
4 :
I would agree with Edoardo and Kimon... Because the problem with the immigrants is big here, those who came from ex comunist countries are so many, and the salary dont think that it is going to be high...and at the beginning maybe without insurance...For your own good, it is better to stay where you are..

Minimum living cost in Greece for one person

Minimum living cost in Greece for one person?
I am coming Greece in work permit visa. Can any one tell me the minimum living cost in Greece for one person

On the islands - nothing. The land and the sea can support down to earth life without any great difficulties. Even the tobacco and the alcohol can be home-made. And in the cities? Lots! For more than 30 % of the population, life in the cities did become an every day struggle to learn - how to live with 200 euro per week when at least 300 euro p/w is needed. PS. If you like to live in the Ghettos together with poor Albanians and black refugees, than yes - the Air-hole estimates will be correct.
2 :
A modest apartment in a non expensive neighborhood will be about 350 €. Electricity, phone and water supply should be another 100-150 €. Food will be about 20 € per day. Other expenses another 200€ ? Since you are coming with a working permit it means that you have already found a job and most likely it must be highly paid in some special field. That in turn means that you can afford the above expenses. If that is not the case, then good luck to you.
3 :
the prices that Airpole gave are almost true with 350 in a downgraded area you can also find a big house, with that amount you can find in a mediocre area a 1bedroom apartment. In the rent money you got to add at least 50 euros for condo fees (during summer) and that price goes up during winter for heating too(that price depends from the price of petrolium and it's not fixed). 20 euros per day for food is reasonable if you eat out every day, if you eat at home that price goes down extremely much. If you will use a car, have in mind that you will need about 50-60 euros every week for gas.
4 :
It depends on the place. But in general i would say Food:7-10 euros per day,if you choose to cook or eating cheap food. Accommodation:From 300-350 euro in a decent but not expensive area + 100 euros for water, phone, electricity etc. Other expenditures:From 70 euros per month. Total:Around 700 euros.

Why would Greece work any harder or start longer workdays since the EU will bail them out

Why would Greece work any harder or start longer workdays since the EU will bail them out?
To give another example, suppose in a classroom setting all the grades get averaged. Those who earned an F are given C's, and those who earned A's are given C's, why would the A's keep working as hard as they do to carry the lazier part of class? Inevitably the A's would start earning lower grades until the class average was an F, as no real individual achievement is in any way useful. So my question is: why would Greece be any different?

Greece will survive, as they have for thousands of years. You think thats bad, imagine if Persia was still attacking them. They survived hundreds of wars, they will survive a recession. This argument is like a kid arguing with his grandfather.

The problem in Greece is a lot more complex and difficult than that. And it threatens the entire Eurozone. If the Europeans want to save the Euro, they have to bail out Greece. Something that makes the Germans pretty damn mad, LOL.

It's conditional on the government making stringent measures to deal with their deficit, which will entail more man hours for less money from the population at large. If the government fails to meet the requirements, then the creditors can pull the plug and Greece goes bankrupt. However, nobody in their right mind wants that. Edit: LOL at those who blame it on socialism! Its nothing to do with that - the endemic problem is equally the cause of a long sequence of left and right governments (PASOK and New Democracy) who ALL failed to address problems of corruption, tax evasion, and of failing to grow the economy with earlier EU funds. This has NOTHING to do with any political ideology. The banking crisis and Goldman Sachs playing the market has arguably had as much effect on their economic problems.

Bailing out sb doesn't mean that you give him money as a gift. It's a loan and in Greece's case a loan with a high interest rate (5%-6%).Quite a bargain...

when washing them clothes make sure that you wash them with only themselves! when washing them get your washer full of warm water (or how it says on the tag) then put in your regular detergent with oxy clean and another help full hint is if you have colors that bleed on to the whites or vise versa use a dryer sheet in the washer it helps out alot! I hope that this works out for ya! I know that it does for me! Or you can just try what everyone says is to just pre treat it I guess but it's all up to you!
