1) Citizens of Athens and the surrounding dimoi (regions) would directly vote in the assembly on issues. So, for example, if Athenians wanted to pass a measure on increasing taxes, the citizens were obliged to go to the assembly and each person cast his own vote on the measure. 2) In the U.S., rather than each individual casting his own vote, a representative is selected to cast the vote on behalf of others. For example, rather than 30 million Californians going to the U.S. Senate and each person voting, the Californians elect two representatives (i.e. Senators, in this case) to vote on the behalf of all Californians. 3) The main advantage of a direct democracy is that each individual is given his own voice and allowed to give his input in the affairs of the entire political state. 4) The main advantage of a representative democracy is that political matters can more easily be handled, with less logistical problems and with less time being consumed, when the political state has a large population. In other words, it's easier when you only have 100 people voting rather than 300 million (in the case of the U.S. Senate). 5) The main disadvantage of direct democracy is that it becomes extremely difficult to implement direct democracy once populations start to become large (see #4 above). 6) The main disadvantage of representative democracy is that individuals lose their own voice in the running of the political machine. Using the U.S. Senate example again, if the two Californian Senators vote in favor of a measure, but let's say that of the 30 million Californians only 20 million actually support the measure, then obviously that's 10 million people who have had not truly been represented by their representatives. I hope that was clear enough for you. Next time, however, do your own homework, rather than cheating by getting answers here.

Citizens of Athens, the city and state, used to have the direct democracy. That means, that in the mornings men went to a public building and everyone could talk about their problems and what they think about the future of Athens and its condition. Also, the citizens of Athens, elected their leaders and their head of their coat of arms...

u mean u want to have ur cordless phone work in greece, and using ur homeline in USA, looooooool go buy a cellphone
4 :
Greece may just use 220, if they do and you plug in your 110 phone, it'll fry.
5 :
Since this is land lines and you are saying cordless, we are talking an extension phone. You don't say where you use the phone, so I will guess USA. So the answer is: almost certainly not. Cordless phones require power from the wall to the base station and in USA this is 110 and Greece is probably 220 with different plugs. Cordless phones are radios transmitters and receivers and the frequencies assigned to phone use differ around the world. Some countries strongly license radios of any kind. As you say, the base has to plug into a phone socket to work (connect to the land lines) and the plug structure may be different, the wiring may be different and the government phone company may object strongly to using improper equipment and failure to pay a fee. With additional data, you may get an answer here, but someone is going to have to prove their authority to answer because they did that.
