It's still early to say if it's working or not. Generally yes, but only because they can sit at the outside area in cafeterias for example, so they don't mind that much yet. The real problem will happen in the winter i suppose. In my town, the only time i heard about health inspectors -or whoever the government has sent for that job- was on the first week of the ban. I don't know what happens in Athens. The ban in Greece is everywhere, except streets and your house lol. Greeks, even smokers like myself, believe that the ban should happen, although there are many issues that the gov. didn't seem to consider (e.g. at shops under 75-80 sq m the smoking ban is general, but most of the shops in Greece, are small anyway, especially at the rural areas,so there is no space for smokers at all) Wait 'till winter and ask again.

Even though the ban seems to be successful in workplaces (for NOW), I still can't find a non-smoking taverna, cafe or bar, because most of them fall into that 70 m2 category. They even let people smoke in bus or train station's cafes, and I don't think that should be allowed under the new law. However, it's a beginning, let's just hope it will remain that way. Banning smoking in Greece is almost an impossible task and this is already a great achievement, considering the fact that Greeks are used to smoking literally EVERYWHERE. I hope it will be enforced all the way, and not just for a few weeks or months.

Yes. Michael, what you describe is illegal, and you should call 1142 and report it.
